Chronology of cameras Asahi Bussan
Originally named Vest Alex and distributed by another brand, it was limited to the 4 x 6 cm format.
Thanks to the AB logo visible on the shutter plate, it's evident that Asahi Bussan took over its distribution under the name Vest Olympic before its acquisition by Riken and the subsequent name change to Asahi Kogaku Kogyo (see below). The Erith-anastigmat lens remains the same as the original one mounted on the Vest Alex, while the later version produced under Asahi Kogaku Kogyo was equipped with a Ukas Anastigmat.
The lens is mounted on a telescopic tube that locks in retracted and extended positions with a slight clockwise rotation of the optical block. The locking mechanism is assisted by an internal spring.
This diagram created by VB allows us to measure the complexity of Ricoh's history.
1913 | A few Japanese scientists had the idea of establishing a research institute. |
1915 | The proposal for the creation of the Rikagaku Kenkyūsho Institute of Physical and Chemical Research is presented to the Japanese parliament. |
1917 | The Riken Institute and Foundation are established. |
1927 | The Rikagaku Kõgyõ K.K. is created to manufacture and distribute products resulting from research, such as photographic papers. |
